Rowett

Ex-Birmingham City, Stoke City and Derby County boss open to West Brom approach

Gary Rowett would be open to an approach from West Brom.

The 45-year-old is currently out of work and is interested in the vacant Baggies position, according to the Express and Star.

West Brom are in the hunt for a new boss after sacking Darren Moore. James Shan is currently in caretaker charge and has won both of his games in charge.

The Albion have been linked with Preston North End boss Alex Neil and former Watford and Fulham manager Slavisa Jokanovic. Michael Appleton is also believed to be under consideration.

Gary Rowett is another option for the promotion chasing side. He was sacked by fellow Championship side Stoke City in January after a poor start to the season.

He played for the likes of Derby County, Birmingham City and Charlton Athletic in his playing days before starting his managerial career at Burton Albion.

Rowett guided the Brewers to the League Two Play-Off final in his first season at the club but they lost to Fleetwood Town in the final. He was then recruited by Birmingham City in the campaign with Burton near the top of the fourth tier.

He did an impressive job with the Blues and transformed them from relegation candidates to Play-Off contenders in his two years there but was harshly sacked in October 2016.

He got back in the game with Derby County in March 2017 and got them into the Play-Offs before leaving for Stoke City. His time with the Potters was unsuccessful so would West Brom be interested in him now?
